In operation during the 19th century, the original Fort Hall served as a crucial stopping and trade point for local Indians, journeying pioneers, gold diggers and other people making their way across the American West. While the fort is long gone, the Fort Hall Replica recreates the building on its original site, drawing in visitors with costumed site interpreters demonstrating heritage crafts, exhibits focused on the trading industry, local plants and Lewis and Clark's adventure, and authentic items and documents dating back to the 1800s. Overlooking the area from atop a bluff, the fort is on the northern end of modern day Ross Park, just south of Mt. View Cemetery.
